Format Options
We offer multiple options for you to complete your MSW degree at Roberts in our fully synchronous* online program.
These options depend on your:
- preferred timeline (full-time vs. part-time).
- undergraduate degree (advanced standing option for students with a BSW and regular standing option for students with other degrees).
Combining these two areas, you can select the most fitting and appropriate modality for completing your MSW degree at Roberts. In addition, you can select between the Mental Health and Child and Family Services specializations.
*Most synchronous courses have some asynchronous elements to facilitate further engagement and reflection. Internships/field experience are completed in person (within your local area) and are supported by synchronous Field Seminar courses.
Full-Time
Enables you to complete your MSW degree requirements in:
- 2 years for students in the regular standing program; or
- 1 year for students with a BSW degree who meet criteria for the advanced standing status.
This option works great for students who are able to devote a significant amount of time each week to complete rigorous graduate level course assignments.
Part-Time
Enables you to complete your MSW degree requirements in:
- 4 years for students in the regular standing program; or
- 2 years for students with a BSW degree who meet criteria for the advanced standing status.
This option works great for students who are working full-time or who have other circumstances and responsibilities that would make it challenging to attend school full-time.
*Students are able to switch from full-time to part-time or part-time to full-time between their foundation and concentration year (resulting in a program completion time of ~3 years).
Regular Standing
60 credit hours of coursework
This option works great for students who have earned an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than social work or who may have a BSW degree but do not meet all criteria for the rigorous advanced standing program.
Advanced Standing
38 credit hours of coursework
This option works great for students who have earned a BSW degree and meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
- BSW from a CSWE-accredited undergraduate program earned within the past 5 years (this can be extended to 8 years with evidence of post-BSW work experience)
Successful completion of three preparatory courses prior to beginning concentration level courses:
- GSWK 5440: Advanced Standing Seminar (2 credits)
- GSWK 5600: Spirituality and Religion in Social Work Practice (3 credits)
- GSWK 5650: 小组chopathology (3 credits)
